Peer Fear

I watched the Netflix documentary about the making of the song We Are The World. It put together a lot of the big names in popular music at that time. all in one room, one room full of amazing voices. i was so inspired to see all those giants in the music industry leave their egos at the door - as one of the organizers of the event told them to do - and just be real. There were uncertainties, nervousness, insecurity, you could read it in their faces - because they’re all just people. Really successful, top of the charts people but people none the less.

And you could read the apprehension about performing in front of their peers or those other musicians they admired and respected. Some of them said they were nervous and awed to be part of that experience.

They all came together to sing the same song. They all had wildly different voices and manners of expressing themselves in song. Yet somehow, they all sang the same song together with their own unique voice.

Sound in language is my specialization. I teach about the mechanics of speaking.

Understanding what you’re capable of can help you broaden your vocal strength to speak with personal power and authority.
